The MundoGEO#Connect and DroneShow fairs consolidate as one of the most important events in the Geotechnology and Drone sectors, as much for the number of participants and sponsors as for being the milestone to define the market trends in Brazil. They totaled 3.080 participants, 40 sponsors and 70 brands in the fairs.

The participation of the National Agency responsible for Brazilian Civil Aviation (ANAC) and the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA), not only in the debates but also in the fairs during the three days of the events to solve the participants’ doubts proved to be one of the highlights.

As much as the Geography and Statistics Brazil’s Institute (IBGE), Brazil’s Army Geographic Service Directory and Embrapa were able to show their most important production for the Geotechnology community.

The main highlights of the events were the repercussion all along the fair corridors and auditoriums, the positive results generated to the community from ANAC regulation for the commercial use of drones, which was defined a week prior to the events. A regulated market implies in more legal security and enables the achievement of big projects using drones.

Besides the agriculture and mapping sectors, we may highlight in the events the courses and seminars linked to the drone applications in the construction sites inspection, safety and forensic. As regards the Geotechnology sector, there was a big interest in the Territorial Information National Sysytem (SINTER) and the application of Geographic Intelligence in Municipal Management.

“The debates that took place in the MundoGEO#Connect at the beginning of the three days of the events respectively covered the ‘Geointelligent Cities, SINTER and Drones for Topography, polemic topics that generated heated discussions, although always clearly aiming at making conclusions and recommendations towards the best practices for the sector”, states Eduardo Freitas, technical coordinator of the events program.

In addition to the debate that cleared all doubts concerning working legally with drones, two other topics were popular, the general guidelines on how to start a drone company, and the potential businesses using autonomous drones for delivery and private security.

This year’s audience profile was mainly connected to the agriculture and infrastructure private sectors, the great users of information collected by the sensors embedded in the drones. However, the public sector was present principally in environmental issues, public management, security and civil defense. Several startups and junior companies turned up. Also, prominent education institutions presented researches applied in the sector.
