The Space Industry Virtual Summit hosted by ZASPACE, South African National Space Agency (SANSA), the Embassy of Brazil in Pretoria, and the Brazilian Aerospace Cluster will take place from 26-27 May 2021. The event aims to bring together the space industries of Brazil and South Africa to foster business partnerships and cooperation between the two nations.

In late 2020, the Brazilian Space Agency and SANSA embarked on a new era of partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. This event is intended to enhance opportunities for both countries’ industries. SIVS is a 2-day event committed to exploring interactions and business opportunities during this new period of partnership.

The African space industry is currently worth $7.37 billion and is projected to grow to over $10.29 billion in the next five years, according to the 2019 African Space Industry Annual Report, further highlighting the potential opportunity within the space economy for both countries.

The first day will set the tone for the summit: introducing key stakeholders, exploring business opportunities in both Brazil and South Africa, and demystifying space for business across the Atlantic.

The second day will consist of a variety of B2B networking sessions to further explore and drive collaboration for the entire value chain of South African and Brazilian space businesses.

Attendees will partake in discussions on operating businesses in both countries, the potential of space technology for business, the space industry supply chain, and various applications of space technology for life on earth including improvements for agriculture, mobility, and more.

Speakers for the virtual event include specialists like Mike Sage, CEO Structured Finance Solutions at FNB South Africa, and Antônio Yukio Ueta, Organizing Committee Member, from the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research, with keynote addresses by Valanathan Munsami, CEO of the South African Space Agency (SANSA) and Carlos Moura, President of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB).

The Space Industry Virtual Summit is the exciting first step towards a long and prosperous relationship between Brazilian and South African space industries and it will provide a platform for sharing information and connecting with experts, for networking and relationship building, and for collaboration and growth. Attendees can look forward to all of these over the two-day event and into the future.
