The Brazilian startup Moya Aero secured funding of USD 2 million from the Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (Finep), an agency linked to the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), for the development of an autonomous eVTOL for logistics.

Finep’s selection was the result of the call for subsidy to demonstrated platforms of new aeronautical technologies, in the category “Aircraft demonstrating remotely piloted technologies and with a maximum takeoff weight greater than 150 kg”. Together with Moya, the companies Albatross Indústria Aeronáutica, Helisul Drones and Certifica Drone entered as co-executors.

Moya had already raised an investment from the Venture Capital fund Seed4Science, from Fundep Participações (Fundepar). With this additional resource from Finep, the company will be able to follow the development of the fully electric vehicle that will have a load capacity of up to 200 kg and a range of 110 km.

The company was founded in 2020 as a spin-off of ACS Aviation, an aeronautical engineering company from São José dos Campos, which was the first to build and fly a manned electric aircraft in Brazil, the SORA-e.

Moya Aero will participate as an exhibitor at the DroneShow, MundoGEO Connect and SpaceBR Show 2023, which will take place between May 9 and 11 at the Frei Caneca Convention Center, in São Paulo.
