GSDI Opens Registration for 10th Conference in Trinidad

The Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Association has opened the on-line registration for its 10th Annual conference. The conference will be held February 25-29, 2008, in St. Augustine, Trinidad. The theme of the conference is "Small Island Perspectives on Global Challenges: The Role of Spatial Data in Supporting a Sustainable Future."

Additional information on the GSDI-10 Conference, including registration details and Abstract submission requirements can be found at: http://gsdi.org/GSDI10 . The deadline for submission of abstracts of papers to be presented at GSDI-10 is September 15, 2007.  

Papers are sought that address the full range of practice, development and research topics that advance the practice and theory of spatial data infrastructure development with particular attention paid to papers that additionally address these pressing concerns:

– Sustainable development (e.g. pressures of tourism, preservation and conservation versus land and resource development);
– Disaster prevention, warning, management, response, and recovery (e.g. hurricanes, earth quakes, tsunamis, sea level rise);
– Alleviation of poverty and crime;
– Economic development;
– Decreasing the digital divide including access to information technologies;
– Ensuring food security;
– Support of transportation, health and communication systems;
– Facilitating land ownership. 

Successful submitters will be notified 15th October 2007, with full Papers and Posters are due 15th December 2007.
