The Carbon Project announced the availability of CarbonArc PRO for ArcGIS 9.2, providing OGC® Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) 1.0 interoperability for ESRI’s ArcGIS 9.2 software. OGC SDI 1.0 is a selected suite of standards from the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc.

“The public and private sectors are embracing SDI 1.0 interoperability and CarbonArc PRO wraps this suite of standards into tools that are easy to use,” said Jeff Harrison, President and CEO of The Carbon Project. “CarbonArc PRO leads a growing movement for standards-based commercial software and will immediately benefit government agencies and commercial enterprises.”

“CarbonArc PRO provides a way to ease existing desktop GIS into SDI 1.0 interoperability with minimal expense and disruption,” said Nuke Goldstein, CTO and COO of The Carbon Project. “By plugging into ArcGIS, CarbonArc PRO lets people use any SDI 1.0 web service as an integral part of the GIS, including WMS, WFS, WFS-T, WCS, Filter Encoding, Gazetteer, GML, GMLsf and Catalog Services (CS-W).”

“The Carbon Project offers excellent support for OGC® standards. Carbon Project’s SDI 1.0 ArcGIS extension provides ArcGIS users additional options for enhanced interoperability,” said Satish Sankaran, Product Manager for Interoperability and Standards at ESRI.

CarbonArc PRO will be featured at many upcoming events including GEOINT 2007 and other venues.

CarbonArc PRO was developed with CarbonTools PRO, an extension to the Microsoft .NET Framework allows software developers to add advanced geospatial interoperability to any Microsoft Windows application, including SDI 1.0.
