New Trimble GNSS Receiver Module for High-Precision Application Development

Trimble has introduced the new Trimble BD960, a RTK compact GNSS card for high-precision guidance and control applications. Capable of receiving a range of commercially available GNSS signals, the BD960 receiver is designed to allow OEMs and system integrators to easily add centimetre-level positioning to specialized or custom hardware solutions.

Available as an easy to integrate module, the Trimble BD960 is a multi-channel, multi-frequency, OEM GNSS receiver in a compact Eurocard form factor. With the Trimble BD960, OEMs and integrators can utilise both the modernised GPS L2C and L5 signals and GLONASS L1/L2 signals.

The new embedded solution capitalises on Trimble’s proven positioning technologies. The Trimble BD960 includes on-board features such as multipath mitigation, low-elevation tracking and support for OmniSTAR worldwide DGPS service. With support for modernised GPS signals and GLONASS, the Trimble BD960 provides integrators with a complete range of positioning signals for fast initialization and improved field performance. Interfacing and configuration is easy with the BD960. The card is designed to plug into an application with minimal development. In addition to the standard RS-232 communications, Ethernet connectivity on the board allows high-speed data transfer and configuration.

The Trimble BD960 GNSS receiver module is expected to be available worldwide in first quarter of 2008. Pacific Crest, a Trimble Company, will manage the sales and distribution of the product.
