PCI Geomatics, a world-leading developer of software and solutions for geospatial imaging applications, announced it has successfully demonstrated the power of the Automatic Ingest Mosaic Mapping System (AIMM) in a coalition military environment. This beneficial and economical system is used to transform geospatial data and imagery into valuable information which can assist commanders in making key decisions in support of operations.
AIMM is comprised of PCI Geomatics core technology which has been packaged into a highly interoperable framework. This framework offers our customers the flexibility to choose robust plug and play components which are founded on 25 years of developing and implementing algorithms to correct and manipulate geospatial raster and vector data. These components can be chained together in a highly customizable fashion to optimize processing performance.
AIMM is an example of a fully automatic system which performs; ortho-correction of both optical and SAR satellite imagery, storage and search capabilities within an Oracle 10g database, and the production of image and topographic maps.
Geointelligence analysts can use AIMM to request images, mosaics, or maps relevant to their area of interest, searching by keyword, sensor type, acquisition date or location. Automatically responding to the query, the system can send the requested imagery in a variety of formats including PIX, NITF GeoTIFF, PDF and JPEG by FTP or email.
"The AIMM system from PCI Geomatics provides wide-area terrain intelligence for battlefield or theatre operations and directly supports any command requiring accurate, up-to-date map information," said David Piekny, Account Manger at PCI Geomatics.
AIMM is fully web enabled, allowing inputs and outputs via a variety of methods including web browsers, email, and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant web services and FTP. AIMM is one example of a customized automated production workflow that PCI Geomatics has created to serve our customers needs.
