German households in the southern federal states have more building society contracts than those in any other area of the country. This is immediately evident when viewing GfK GeoMarketing’s map illustrating the nationwide distribution (at the level of individual cities and administrative districts) of German households with building society contracts.
The distribution of building society contracts is just one of the many data sets in the new 2007 GfK Financial Market Atlas, which contains comprehensive information regarding the household utilization of 25 financial services provided by banks and insurance companies. This information is used by lending and savings banks as well as insurance companies and building societies to analyze their market share of their respective service area and to adjust their business strategies accordingly.
