INTERGEO East will take place from 19 to 20 February 2008 (Congress – 18 to 20 February) in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, and is attracting representatives from across the land management, geoinformation and building industries. Over 80 exhibitors will converge on a display area of around 1,500 square meters. The products and solutions offered by these international companies will factor in the trend towards the development and usage of increasingly expert data. INTERGEO East is the industry’s largest trade fair and congress in South-East Europe.

Now in its fifth year, the event will once again showcase the latest technology and innovations and in 2008, will focus in particular on laser-supported data capture, data management and data provision. This international forum will also display cutting-edge GIS applications that can be used to great benefit in supply and disposal operations, and in the land register and planning activities of local authorities and e-Government.

The event is organized by the Republic Geodetic Authority of Serbia/Montenegro (RGZ), the Serbian Chamber of Engineers (SCE), the University of Belgrade’s Institute for Geodesy, HINTE GmbH and Congrexpo, all of which are keen that the congress provides a forum for high-level knowledge sharing and exchange. National and international speakers will deliver presentations on projects that are relevant to both the host country and an international audience. The main topics will be land management and land registers, information technology, cartography, photogrammetry, satellite technology, education and professional applications.

In 2008, INTERGEO East is returning to its roots and being held in Serbia for the third time. As well as welcoming major international companies such as AED-Sicad AG, Intergraph and Sokkia, the trade fair and congress is also reaping the benefits of a new partner. The Serbian Chamber of Engineers will help to expand the INTERGEO East network and generate even more opportunities.

The joint stands of the Republic of Croatia State Geodetic Administration and GEOkomm networks are sure to attract a great deal of interest. The Republic of Croatia State Geodetic Administration and its six partners will enrich the international exchange of information and knowledge.

GEOkomm networks, the competence network in geoinformatics, aims to put the German region of Berlin-Brandenburg on the international map by highlighting new products and bringing together expertise and innovative potential. “The competence network gives the geoinformation industry the opportunity to break out of small regional markets and establish new national business areas, potentially in cooperation with other branches of industry,” says Dr. Peter A. Hecker, Chairman of the Association of the Geoinformation Industry Berlin/Brandenburg (GEOkomm). GEOkomm networks’ core areas of interest include geodata infrastructures, remote sensing, geotainment and Galileo.

More than 3,500 experts from business, science and public administration are expected to attend the trade fair and congress at the exhibition centre in Belgrade. The internationally relevant subject areas, interdisciplinary approaches and the presentation of new technologies create a mix that is ideal for supporting and, above all, encouraging the requisite dialogue. Scientific lectures, discussions, seminars and workshops provide visitors with the opportunity to get comprehensive information on their own specific areas of interest.

Intergeo East 2008 will take place from 18 to 20 February (congress) and 19 to 20 February (trade fair) in Belgrade, Serbia.
