Brazil: Rio de Janeiro State Updates Cartographic Base

The Government from Rio de Janeiro State, in Brazil, and the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics (IBGE) signed a cooperation term for an official update of cartographic bases of the State. With the initiative, Rio de Janeiro will count with an official updated cartography. The last one is dated from 1970.

The initiative will implement the Economic Ecological Zoning (ZEE), that will define the economic  vocations and environment vulnerabilities in the State.

To update the cartographic base, it will be made 319 charts. 150 of them will use photos from IBGE and the others will be made with photos from State Environment Secretary from Rio de Janeiro.
