The 8th Annual International Conference and Exhibition "Laser Scanning and Digital Aerial Photography. Today and Tomorrow" to be held in Moscow on 10-11 December, 2008 at the President Hotel.

The Organisation Committee of the VIII International Conference on Laser Scanning reports Trimble has become Conference Sponsor and will be presenting its development strategy for geospatial imaging on the first day of the Conference, December 10, 2008 in Moscow.

Since its foundation in 1978 Trimble has been specialising on developing terrestrial-based positioning, mapping and GIS, and mobile mapping solutions. Later on the Company extended the scope of its services by integrating new Solutions for Survey Applications, Spatial Imaging, and Infrastructure.

A series of successful acquisitions as well as multi-million investments into research and development let the Company enhance its influence and demonstrate innovative, brake-through technologies in all geodetic applications.

In 2003, Trimble acquired Applanix of Toronto, Canada, adding inertial navigation to GPS as well as to GNSS navigation. In 2007 – Inpho, a company specialising in photogrammetry; in 2008 – Geo3D (the company’s focus is the collection of roadside imagery for asset management), RolleiMetric (focusing on metric aerial cameras and close range photogrammetry), and now TopoSys (focusing on aerial data collection system integration) have been integrated into Trimble.

According to Ken Spratlin, Director for Strategy and Business Development for Trimble, a world leading manufacturer of geodetic equipment manifested its interest in “…active promotion of the recent acquisitions to the East European and Russian markets as these markets possess strong potential for implementation of our new technologies as well as our new strategy for geospatial imaging, and the VIII International Conference is seen as an effective marketing tool for this promotion.”
