European satellite navigation competition will be held in Madrid

The European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) will be held in Madrid, from 16-17th March 2009. ESNC is an international ideas competition for GNSS applications under the patronage of the Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs.

This year the competition has been carried out in 13 regions with Taiwan and Queensland/Australia taking the competition to a global level. And with 300 submitted idea proposals for numerous fields of application of satellite navigation, the competition has established an all-time record in 2008.

On 16th/17th March 2009 the international experts from industry and research, the regional authorities and management teams, winners and participants of past competitions will meet in Madrid for the international kick-off conference.

The ESNC is supported by the European Space Agency (ESA), the European GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA), the European Commission and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) as well as by industrial sponsors such as Navteq or T-Systems.

Representatives of all these institutions will be present at the kick-off conference as well as representatives of the European Commission with an update on the current status of the European Galileo programmes.
