The European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) 2009 is looking for a partner to represent Latin American Region. The ESNC is run once a year with an online database opening from 1st May to 31st July.
The regional participations are usually organized by regional development agencies, regional high-tech/GNSS initiatives, regional governments or chambers of commerce, but the format of the institution is not important, as long as there is a backing from the regional government to represent the region.
The following aspects are important.
The Partner must:
– Be involved in the field of satellite navigation, mobile communications, or geo-information; and
– Have related companies and/or research institutes located within its borders.
The Region must:
– Have an incubator and/or start-up centre that declares its willingness to incubate the Galileo Master, should -the Region be chosen as the competition’s overall winner; and
– Demonstrate long-term interest in developments in satellite navigation.
The concept of the regionalisation of the competition is based on the fact that all participating regions are looking for innovative entrepreneurs to found new high-tech companies in their regions, to promote their high-tech/GNSS activities and to find international cooperation partners in this unique global network.
Thus the ideas competition is also a co-opetition amongst the partner regions since from all regional winners one overall winner will be nominated and awarded the prestigious title of the Galileo Master.
Each region has their own database entrance, so each participant needs to choose when registering, for which region he/she would like to participate. Once the database is closed, all ideas submitted for a certain region are transmitted to a regional panel of experts for nomination of the regional winner.
Participants from all over the world are free to choose their region – important is not where they come from but where they would like to start their business.
