advertising

Trimble makes it easier and more fun for fans of the T-Mobile G1 to take a hike, climb a mountain or reel in the big one by using the power of their phone’s GPS technology. The Trimble Outdoors application is now available on the G1, the first phone for the Android open software platform. Trimble Outdoors turns the G1 into a full-featured GPS navigator and geotagging tool for hiking, backpacking, fishing and other outdoor activities.

Combined with the Trimble Outdoors Web site, the Trimble Outdoors application is a complete outdoor trip planning, navigation and geotagging solution.

With the application users can:

 – Review and plan trips online
 – Send routes, maps and waypoints wirelessly to the G1
 – Use the phone as a full-featured GPS navigator to guide outdoor adventures
 – Capture experiences with geotagged pictures, text and audio notes that can be shared online via the Trimble site, Facebook and Google Earth
 – Take advantage of online logs, maps and tens of thousands of trips posted by other users

Trimble Outdoors allows users to get maps of their locations, track routes with a GPS breadcrumb trail, and mark and edit waypoints along the way. The application also features a digital compass displaying the user’s coordinates, speed and heading.

Availability and Pricing

Trimble Outdoors is now available for download on the T-Mobile G1 through the Android Market and Trimble Outdoors Web site. For the first 30 days, the application is available at an introductory cost of $19.99.
