The Applied Earth System Science Post Graduation Course (PH. Doctorate) registration from National Institute for Space Research has just started and its deadline is December 10th.
The purpose of this course is to confer Human Resources Education to serve the institutional demands, national and scientific ones related to the impacts, vulnerability, social process and public policies linked to the regional and global environment changes. Being innovative the new kind of Post-graduation breaks the limits for the interdisciplinary research in Brazil, making possible the graduation of qualified professionals to join this new generation of scientists.
They have to have a strong knowledge in some of natural sciences fields as well as the quantitative evaluation tools, mainly of the Earth system components model, however, shall understand the social science language and humanity ones regarding the human impacts on environment and also on the environment changes on human systems. The graduate student shall be prepared to deal with complex and wide-ranging aspects of the human actions on global environment as well as study about new technologies for the future focused on sustainable development of production and consumption.
We hope 10 years from now, the graduated Professional puts in work on interdisciplinary way the Applied Earth System Science, as well as we hope INPE works on the competitive research development on international standard, that is economically and environmentally important to the country, South America and to some other countries in development.
The new professionals and researchers must be prepared to face big environmental challenges not only in Brazilian territory but also from the planet, having the opportunity to work for governmental institutions or private companies.
