MosaicMill Ltd. has released standalone software CalCam for photogrammetric calibration of small and medium format digital cameras.
Camera calibration is essential to produce topographic mapping quality orthophotos, elevation models and contours of aerial images. Frequent calibration is especially required and recommended for UAV camera systems because of relative instability of their compact cameras.
CalCam software optimizes calibration field and targets, and instructs to establish those either printed or projected, and guides to take the calibration images at optimal locations. Detection and measurement of the targets on the images is automatic, thus the entire calculation process can be carried out in minutes. Camera internal orientation is calculated in camera-specific pixels and exported into a calibration report in metric system.
CalCam output is fully compatible with EnsoMOSAIC photogrammetric system, and can be used also with other photogrammetric packages.
