NDrive Navigation Systems S.A. today announced partnership with LG Electronics to offer a turn-by-turn navigation application for LG’s Android-based smartphones, the Optimus (a.k.a. GT540) and the Optimus One (a.k.a. P500).
The NDrive solution embeds on-board digital maps from NAVTEQ, a leading provider of electronic maps.
NDrive’s turn-by-turn navigation will be provided free of charge to all users of the LG Optimus and the LG Optimus One, LG’s new handsets that are aimed at first-time smartphone users. The devices include high powered entertainment features such as a camera with built-in video editor, Bluetooth 2.1 capability, assisted GPS and up to 32GB of expandable MicroSD memory.
“We are really excited about this opportunity providing our solution to LG’s smartphone,” said Luis Baptista-Coelho, CEO of NDrive Navigation Systems. “This global contract with a top tier handset manufacturer such as LG confirms not only the quality of our navigation software but also our capability to handle a worldwide roll out in terms of languages, localization, map compilation and operating systems. We are looking forward to a long term relationship with LG.”
