Optech is pleased to announce that it will be showcasing significant new developments at the ChinterGEO2014 exhibition to be held October 25 to 27 at the Nanchang International Exhibition Center in Nanchang City, China. Optech’s presence will highlight a new airborne sensor, improvements to cameras, and integrated UAV/terrestrial scanner solutions, though it will also focus on its entire line-up of survey products which includes airborne, mobile, and static systems.

Lynx survey of roads in Qinghai province, China

Optech regional sales manager Tyler Kou will be on hand to discuss Optech’s latest airborne sensor, the Optech ALTM Galaxy, which is ideal for the burgeoning infrastructure and urban development initiatives in East Asia. Galaxy’s 550-kHz effective pulse rate is combined with unprecedented data quality and accuracy to cover large areas quickly and efficiently, while retaining the flexibility to perform low-altitude surveys of powerlines, roads, and other infrastructure. Meanwhile, Galaxy’s PulseTRAK technology dynamically adjusts the scan field of view to maintain constant swath widths and point distribution, even in varying terrain. This makes Galaxy a truly high-performance sensor, able to provide a continuous operating envelope that can eliminate multipulse “blind” zones while enabling seamless high-altitude surveying at high pulse rates… all in the most robust and compact form factor possible for this level of capability. Completely integrated with any of Optech’s CS-Series aerial digital cameras, as well as pod and gyro-stabilized mounts, Galaxy maintains the highly flexible and configurable solution for multiple platforms expected from Optech systems.

Attendees will see the results from several surveys that the Optech Lynx Mobile Mapper has recently performed in China, showcasing how the quality of the 3D data will help surveyors manage the country’s massive infrastructure projects. The applications include modeling the region’s rapidly growing cities in 3D, efficiently mapping China’s several hundred thousand kilometers of roads, and accurately surveying the country’s vital network of railway lines to help keep goods moving.

Mr. Kou will also have information about the Optech Coastal Zone Mapping and Imaging Lidar (CZMIL) and its remarkable water penetration capabilities, even in turbid or muddy bottom conditions. CZMIL is in use by several government agencies for critical mapping projects and has been tested and verified as the only comprehensive solution for water conditions in Asian coastal areas. For government agencies, academic organizations and survey companies with limited projects in mind, Mr. Kou will also discuss the new CZMIL Project Program, which offers clients the use of CZMIL for short- or medium-sized tasks, backed by a full support structure, without requiring them to purchase the system outright.

Finally, there will also be details about Optech’s new ILRIS Scan UAV package, a complete hardware and software solution that provides surveyors with the ability to seamlessly combine detailed ILRIS terrestrial lidar scanner data with UAV-based photogrammetry, resulting in the rapid acquisition of fused colorized 3D datasets with their respective gaps filled in. Attendees can learn more about these new surveying solutions by heading to booth A17, shared with Optech’s partner in China, Beijing Zhonghan Instrument Co.Ltd.
