Spain officially joins the Artemis Accords

European country is the 25th to join the list of nations that, together with NASA, seek to cooperate with space exploration in a peaceful way

Spain became the 25th signatory to the Artemis Accords, establish a practical set of principles to guide space exploration cooperation among nations, including those participating in NASA’s Artemis program.

The agreement was made official during a ceremony in Madrid, attended by NASA administrator, Bill Nelson, and the President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez. Diana Morant, Spain’s science and innovation minister, signed on behalf of Spain.

“We are witnessing a commitment by the Government of Spain to a key sector that generates opportunities and high-quality employment, which is a priority and strategic area, essential to help and protect our society, said President Sánchez.

According to NASA, additional countries will sign the Artemis Accords in the months and years ahead.
