The number of rockets and satellites launches continues to grow and will continue at an accelerated pace over the next few years. It is the reality of a competitive market with several players, mainly from the private sector, which look to space for countless commercial opportunities here on Earth. It is this context that will permeate the SpaceBR Show, an event organized by MundoGEO and which will be held between May 21 and 23, 2024, at Expo Center Norte – Pavilhão Amarelo, in São Paulo.
According to the study Prospects for the Small Satellite Market, produced by Euroconsult, a consultancy specialized in the space market, around 26,000 small satellites (smallsats), weighing less than 500 kg, will be launched between 2023 and 2032. The annual average of 2,600 satellites of this type launched is much higher than the previous decade, which was 698 per year.
Despite being a very fragmented market, the Starlink (SpaceX) and GuoWang (China SatNet) constellations will together account for around 66% of smallsats launched by 2032. Even so, the market value of both falls to 25%, showing that other applications are able to guarantee a higher added value. In total, this sector is expected to accumulate approximately US$110.5 billion during this period.
These numbers show the commercial opportunities of companies in the space sector, including Brazil, especially after the first launch of a private company at the Alcântara Launch Center (CLA), in Maranhão, carried out by the South Korean Innospace in March 2023. This is a window that has opened for foreign, but also Brazilian, startups.
The market aspect will cover the entire SpaceBR Show 2024 Forum programme, with debates on commercial opportunities, infrastructure, technological development of rockets and satellites, entrepreneurship, sources of resources and private investments in the space sector. In addition, there will be a Business Roundtable to bring business fair exhibitors and representatives from industry, government and private companies face to face. In the 2023 edition, more than 100 meetings were held.
“This Forum is now in its fourth edition and is held in partnership with the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB) with the aim of integrating industry, government and universities, showing society the benefits generated by the space sector”, says the CEO of MundoGEO, Emerson Granemann.
The Forum will have simultaneous translation into Portuguese, English and Spanish.
