Moya Aero Completes Wind Tunnel Tests

advertising

Throughout August, part of our team was engaged in testing at Latin America’s largest wind tunnel, located in São José dos Campos at the Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAE) of the DCTA (Department of Aerospace Science and Technology). The goal was to conduct aerodynamic tests using a specially built model.

The results were closely aligned with our expectations, indicating that only minimal adjustments are needed to reduce drag.

Over the course of four weeks in the wind tunnel, Moya’s model underwent more than 150 tests in various configurations, encompassing both vertical and horizontal flight.

Unlike traditional aircraft tests, where the angle of attack varies between 0 and 20 degrees, for a VTOL, the angle ranges from -10 to 90 degrees.

The team celebrated these results but is already preparing for further real testing at SDA4 Airfield. The Moya 256 has received the Experimental Flight Authorization Certificate (CAVE) to undertake longer flights.

Our project has remained on schedule and within budget since its launch in 2022. We anticipate certification by 2026, with service expected to begin by the end of that year.
