In June 2006 Geokosmos carried out surveying project in Ghana for the gold mining industry – the key exporter of this West African country.

Geokosmos has been successfully conducting surveying works for different industries of Ghana for three years already. Now Geokosmos extended its activity to new market segment – the gold mining industry.

The specialists from Geokosmos surveyed 3 large areas of the country using airborne laser scanning (LIDAR) technology. To provide high accuracy geospatial data and to receive output products in the shortest possible time, the survey was conducted with up-to-date LIDAR system – ALTM 3100 (Optech Inc., Canada) with the integrated inertial measurement unit (IMU), manufactured in France.

The acquired data will form the basis for Geographical Information System (GIS) as well as for development and monitoring of infrastructure and gold fields.

"Among the key factors that ensured successful implementation of the project are high quality of collected data, extraordinary productivity and big experience in airborne laser scanning for the gold mining industry…" – states Alexander Filimonov, Geokosmos Commercial Director.
