Global Positions LLC has announced the release of their latest course, titled KnowGIS 10. The instructor for this course is Mr. Jere Folgert who has over two decades of GIS experience. He holds a Master of Science Degree in GIS from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He became a certified instructor with the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) in 1999 and is the recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Award titled the “Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Award”.
KnowGIS 10 series is a video-based training package for learning ArcGIS Desktop. It is an innovative, effective, humorous and a creative training course for learning ArcGIS Desktop. It offers a platform for being a productive ArcGIS Desktop user. ArcGIS is a system that manages data, mapping, globes and models on the desktop and serves them in a browser or on the field through mobile devices based on the organization’s needs.
The motivation for creating KnowGIS came from an ArcGIS Desktop user who found that the options for learning were quite restricted. The user felt that there was a definite need for someone to create an intuitive video-based training series that does not depend on an internet connection for learning ArcGIS Desktop.

KnowGIS 10 series is comprised of twelve lectures ranging from an introduction to geographic information systems with effective learning strategies up to exploring simple spatial analysis. The advantages of going through KnowGIS 10 are that it will equip the users with knowledge of ArcMap, Arc Catalog, Arc Toolbox and show them how these applications work in unison to analyze, display, organize and present geographic information assets. The participants will also learn how to organize spatial data, perform selections, update attribute tables, perform calculations using the field calculator, design a File Geodatabase, register and rectify raster images, create maps and charts and generate reports.
