Operating in the vehicle tracking market, OmniLink announced in the end of october a partnership, aimed at fleet management, with the North American Iridium, which controls a constellation of low orbit geostationary satellites for voice and data communications.
Today, OmniLink offers its services to around one thousand freight, bus and taxi companies and tracks around 20,000 vehicles.
OmniLink provides services under the coverage of the Inmarsat satellite (long distances), cellular service in urban areas and a mixed system which joins cellular and satellite, the Max 1460.
According to the company president, Cileneu Nunes, the service with Iridium will allow higher vehicle positioning speed and an increase in the flow of data.
