GIC invites you to the – Galileo Information Days : LATINO & CELESTE Activities in Latin America. March 27th-28th, 2007, San Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Europe is creating its own global navigation satellite system: Galileo
Operating by 2012, Galileo will provide a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control. It will be inter-operable with GPS and GLONASS, the two other global satellite navigation systems.
Making Galileo part of the global multimodal transport systems and introducing its services in other application domains around the world means making international cooperation a fundamental part of the Galileo Programme. Galileo offers countries across the world a number of opportunities to participate in and benefit from Europe’s development of Galileo.
Regions can host Galileo ground stations, service providers can disseminate regional integrity information via Galileo satellites, while local businesses can deploy local augmentation elements for demanding professional applications or location based services. Building on long-existing institutional and commercial relations between European countries and Latin America, the EU has established and built up links with Latin America in different domains that will be extended to EGNOS and Galileo.
In the frame of the Galileo Information Centre activities, Latino Consortium is pleased to present the “Galileo Information Days”, as the result of the first year of LATINO activities and CELESTE analysis market in Latin America.
LATINO and CELESTE are both projects managed by GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA) and European Commission which the main objectives are to encourage among others long-term market uptake of European GNSS in the region, to identify new applications and markets that could be developed in the region based on Galileo, to stimulate regional long-term investment, the regional developments of Galileo, and the integration of Galileo in the regional plan for GNSS.
This conference hosted by CRECTEALC and Campus Brazil, will bring to São José dos Campos, professional from the authorities, space technology and service sector. The two-day programme is designed to foster effective information exchange around Galileo benefits and services in the region and establish links between key players and stakeholders from Latin America and Europe at different levels.
The main addressed topics during the Galileo Information Days will be:
· GNSS Strategy in Europe with the provision of updated information on the actual deployment of the new GNSS European systems, EGNOS and Galileo;
· Galileo Programme International Cooperation Activities, including a report of the current and future activities planned for the Galileo Information Centre;
· GNSS implementation plans in LA region, expecting important contributions from representatives of main involved stakeholders in Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Mexico among others;
· CELESTE project, presentation of the final results from its first activity year dedicated mainly to a Market Analysis for applications development based on GNSS, and in particular with the future Galileo global system, in Latin America region.
