China’s first self-developed core chips of a dual-system satellite navigation positioning receiver, the SR8824, were recently tested and sanctioned by the country. Meanwhile, multi-system satellite positioning navigation receivers have also been put into mass production.
This is a clear indication that China has made a breakthrough in the technology of the multi-system global positioning system (GPS) and has mastered strategically significant core technology.
According to a technician at the Beijing Unistar Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., multi-system GPS technology, compared with single-system GPS receiver technology, has a clear advantage.
It can be widely applied within many fields such as marine, air and land transport; fixed and wireless communications; geological exploration, resource surveys, environmental protection, environmental hazard protection and forest fires; emergency medical treatment, maritime rescue technology; bridges, dams and other large construction projects; and land surveys.
