OmniSTAR (The Netherlands) has released a new VBS capable receiver, the 5120VBS receiver. Due to the ‘coasting technology’ this receiver can work up to 20 minutes without an OmniSTAR correction update.
The 5120 VBS receiver is a 12 channel receiver which allows tracking up to 12 GPS satellites, or 11 using OmniSTAR. The ‘limit function’ of the receiver position output upto a specified value (the default value is 10 metres). Beyond that value the output of the receiver will cease.
The receiver is suitable for high-speed environments thanks to an optimalisation of the carrier phase filtering options for aircraft and fast moving platforms. The receiver has a display and 3 buttons which make it possible to read and alter settings. There is no need for a separate computer of PDA to configure the receiver. The adjacent LEDs give information about the receiver’s status: ON, GPS lock and DGPS lock.
The 5120VBS receiver has two RS232 comports (industry standard DB9) and one USB type B connector. The supplied antenna is waterproof and shock resistant.
