Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd., announced a partnership with MAD MAPS that will provide scenic reminders that traveling by car or motorcycle is more than simply reaching a destination.

"The routes developed by MAD MAPS are proof that the best way to get somewhere isn’t always the fastest way," said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. "By adding these detailed road trips to Garmin’s extensive database of more than six million points of interest, we’re able to make every drive an enjoyable ride to remember."

Whether heading across the country or out on a weekend road trip, drivers can download and use MAD MAPS with their zumo(TM) or nuvi(R) to find the road less traveled and more appreciated. After founder Jenny Lefferts moved to San Francisco in 1987 and started searching the Bay Area for scenic drives, she launched MAD MAPS to share the beauty of our back roads. "Our road scouts and research staff identify funky, quirky, and fascinating places to visit along our routes. Then they compile rich, detailed information on each of them," said Lefferts. "Our partnership with Garmin ensures that now anyone with a car, RV, or motorcycle and a Garmin device can benefit from our team’s efforts." In addition to Garmin’s preloaded points of interest, MAD MAPS’ data features a variety of specific points of interest associated with each route, including roadhouses and other highlighted attractions.
