Swedish map software company Idevio announced that the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) has placed a substantial order on software licenses for use in the Nordic Battlegroup. This order, together with all prior orders means that more than 35 major Swedish defense systems now rely on Idevio map management technology, RaveGeo.

The two main reasons for the order are increased performance and cost savings. With Idevio, the systems are able to work faster with an installation only a tenth of the size.

The Idevio software enables the Swedish Armed Forces to use the same map distribution for all systems, even systems with high performance requirements, saving both time and money. The order is for Idevio software which will be used together with ESRI products. ESRI is the world largest manufacturer of geographic information systems and a major supplier to NATO and other armed forces.

“We’re very pleased that FMV and the Nordic Battlegroup has chosen to add RaveGeo ArcGIS9 Plug-in to their ESRI ArcGIS installations enabling them to use a common set of geographical data, which gives a high performance between varying systems,” says Per Carlsson, CEO ESRI S-GROUP.

Idevio map products are based upon a new compression and streaming method, RaveGeo, which reduces the size of map databases by 90–95% and improves access speed and network performance.
