Atmospheric Electricity Group (ELAT) of the National Space Research Institute (INPE), in Brazil, has a new ally in forecasting discharges of electricity. The group has just concluded the integration of data about lightinings in Brazilian Network of Atmospheric Electricity Detection (BrasilDat) to Google Maps platform.
It now allows Elat to access data from BrasilDat using Google tool to verify lightnings in all regions of Brazil and other countries, by Internet.
The data integration is not accessible for user in the Internet. For now, just researchers from Elat will have acess to data. It is necessary to create a specific law to regulate the use of this platform for the public.
Companies interested in access data from Elat must contact the group co-ordination through osmar@dge.inpe.br
