Kadaster en Openbares registers Curacao handles all the Islands documents regarding new parcels, cadastre and permissions for new constructions. It is more than 2.000 errands per year. The last years they have gone through a long process digitizing all the cadastre registrations the past 50 years and the map has been digitized and now they are using ArcGIS from Esri.
To complete the chain from survey to map and also to have a tool for map editing the Kadaster in Curacao did evaluate several applications before they finally selected Mapsuite+ from Chaos systems AB.
Mapsuite+ is a CAD tool for surveying, calculation and mapping and there is a direct communication with the ArcGIS server. Data in the server can easily be opened from Mapsuite+ and there is a chain from the field code all the way down to the database in ArcGIS.
"With Mapsuite+ we are able to measure the new parcels, update and edit them in Mapsuite+, stake them out again and them control measure and leave a readymade drawing to the mappers who really just needs to push the save button to get the data to the database", says Mr. Ludwig Mathilda who is manager for the surveying team at Kadaster Curacao.
