NVision Solutions is partnering with Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS) to offer a unique, rugged solution to obtain precise data in the aftermath of earthquakes, forest fires, tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural disasters.

The mobile software for NVision’s web-based HazNet system will be used on Topcon’s industry-leading GNSS Gis hand-held products with an integrated digital camera and dual-constellation tracking.

The HazNet application on the hand-held unit is a web-based emergency management tool for crisis planning, response and recovery. Police, fire and other emergency services personnel will use the mapping solution in the field to display maps, record event locations, times and detailed attribute data, as well as take photographs for storage and display.

Joel Lawhead, Cio of NVision Solutions, said, “Disaster response requires that field operations are conducted accurately and in a timely manner. Partnering with Topcon finally gives us a rugged field device that helps our customers acquire the necessary data without the headache of any hardware complications. With the Topcon and HazNet solution, users can transmit real-time information from the field to the office so data is acquired and utilized immediately”.

Examples of critical data that can be immediately recorded include weather, environmental factors and traffic conditions. Additionally, the NVision and Topcon solution can be used for reporting criminal activity and affected infrastructure.

Richard Rybka, Topcon’s Gis partner development manager said, “The opportunity to partner with NVision Solutions is an exciting one for us. The HazNet Mobile software running on our GPS devices keeps us on the cutting edge and enables us to bring the best total solution to our customers in the emergency management space”.
