TanDEM-X has delivered its first images (of Madagascar, Ukraine and Moscow) a mere three-and-a-half days after launch on early monday morning.

Together with its twin satellite TerraSAR-X, TanDEM-X will spend three years collecting stereo radar data for a global digital elevation model of the Earth’s entire landmass. This DEM will feature a global homogeneity and a relative accuracy of better than 2 m (10 m absolute) for a 12 m grid. Infoterra will be conducting the commercial marketing of this DEM.

TanDEM-X’s first image and more information on this novel DEM-mission available on Infoterra web site.
