NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, announces that NAVTEQ Traffic Patterns is now supported in Oracle Database 11g Release 2 allowing better route selection based on time of day for users of the Oracle Spatial routing feature.

NAVTEQ Traffic Patterns provides historic traffic speeds and time of day information derived from NAVTEQ’s robust traffic archive containing billions of probe and sensor data records, enabling users of Oracle applications to generate the best routes based on either the time of departure or the desired time of arrival.  Coupled with NAVTEQ’s accurate, high-quality map data, and additional NAVTEQ content such as Point Addressing, NAVTEQ Transport (truck-specific attributes), and NAVTEQ’s Points of Interest (POI) data, Oracle Database 11g Release 2 is an ideal platform for mobile workforce management, field service, fleet management and optimization, business intelligence and customer analytics applications.

“Oracle continues to work closely with NAVTEQ to incorporate advanced content as it becomes available,” commented Jim Steiner, Vice President of Server Technologies at Oracle.  “Adding NAVTEQ Traffic Patterns to the portfolio of map and location content supported by Oracle products lets our customers create the best routes for their fleets and mobile workforce based on time of day. This saves money and improves productivity.”
