Magellan GPS today introduced a new series of worldwide satellite and aerial imagery-enhanced maps for its Magellan eXplorist and Magellan Triton handheld GPS units.
The new maps provide Magellan handheld GPS users with high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery from DigitalGlobe, a leading provider of earth imagery solutions. Detailed and precise overhead pictures of their surroundings will help users discover nearby environmental features during any favorite outdoor activities.
Satellite and aerial imagery are powerful and advantageous tools in the outdoors. Hunters can use imagery-enhanced maps for pre-season scouting, plotting optimal stand locations, and identifying game funnels. Anglers can use them to find new fishing holes that may lay right around the bend from their usual favorite spot. Geocachers may spot obvious obstacles to avoid or trails to aid in reaching hidden treasures safer and faster. Other uses include familiarizing yourself with your surroundings at your campsite or helping hikers see what to expect around the corner.
DigitalGlobe’s images from around Earth give Magellan users access to virtually any area on the planet, from well-traveled national parks to rarely seen remote locations. A one-year subscription to these maps provides on-line access and unlimited downloads of hi-res imagery to a user’s handheld GPS unit using Vantage Point, Magellan’s desktop mapping software.
The new DigitalGlobe-enhanced maps are compatible with the following Magellan handheld GPS units: eXplorist 310, eXplorist 510, eXplorist 610, and eXplorist 710; and Triton 400, Triton 500, Triton 1500 and Triton 2000.
