PCI Geomatics, leader in geo-imaging products and solutions, has a vacancy for Area Manager – Business Development, in Latin America (Rio de Janeiro preferred).
Functioning as a single point of contact for the client, the Area Manager – Business Development is responsible for: managing client relationships for key accounts; the development of new business for an assigned business sector or client; development and maintenance of business from existing clients; coordination with existing business partners; promotion and marketing activities for the defined region; government relations; and for achieving defined revenue targets.
Education/Experience
– Accreditation from a university, college or technical school, the area of study being related to Geomatics.
– Five or more years of solid sales, marketing and business development experience required.
– Experience concluding successful business in Brazil and, ideally, throughout South America.
Technical Skills
– Thorough understanding of the geomatics industry, ideally, in the remote sensing sector.
– Strong awareness of competitor target markets and product offerings.
– Solid background in PC applications and networks.
Non-Technical skills
– Comprehensive knowledge of product pricing and sales and marketing strategies.
– Effective leadership, communication and strong presentation skills.
– Solid competence in major accounts management.
Highly motivated, self-learning and disciplined individual with ability to work from a satellite office.
– Some travel (25%) is required.
– Weekends and overtime required in meeting aggressive schedules, proposal deadlines, etc.
– Ability to handle levels of stress normally associated with a marketing and sales environment.
– Excellent spoken and written communication skills in Portuguese and English.
– Demonstrated ability to communicate with Spanish language speakers.
– Excellent existing network of Geomatics community members in Brazil and, ideally, in other Latin American Countries.
– Knowledge of relevant funding programs in Brazil.
Other Attributes
Project Planning
– With the input of internal resources (Department Heads/Managers), prepare, maintain and execute a strategic plan which identifies the various projects PCI is currently (or should be) involved in and the associated key clients and prospects to approach to further corporate business objectives.
– Establish and attend meetings with same and report on outcome.
Strategic Project Management
– Act as project manager in the development of business proposals. As such, write, review proposals and ensure that all technical areas are covered and follow-up on any inclusions/changes to be made, etc.
– Coordinate/participate or lead demonstrations, presentations and strategic business events (be liaison for R&D, sales, marketing and other departments for same).
Corporate Representation
– In support of major business objectives, the incumbent will be called upon to represent the company in important external business relationships such as with major clients, strategic partners, government and the public.
– Manage liaison with corporate business associations as assigned.
