The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is an international industry consortium of 438 companies, government agencies and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available interface standards. OGC Standards support interoperable solutions that “geo-enable” the Web, wireless and location-based services and mainstream IT. The OGC is seeking a Director of Services – Americas and a highly qualified individual located in Europe for the position of Director in the OGC Interoperability Program.
Director of Services – Americas
This full time position is responsible for working with OGC’s membership based in the Americas to explain / familiarize members with benefits and services that come with OGC membership, and to act as the focal point for OGC related activities planned and convened in the region. This position is responsible for member inquiries and suggestions for improved OGC services / support in the region. Furthermore this position is responsible for membership recruitment as well as being the primary contact point for non OGC member inquiries from the Americas.
The OGC Director of Services – Americas reports to the OGC VP Operations and Finance and will work closely with OGC staff, OGC membership, the OGC Board of Directors and with representatives of OGC Alliance Partner organizations.
The OGC is a non-profit, international, voluntary consensus standards organization that is leading the development of standards for geospatial and location based services.

Director in the OGC Interoperability Program
Candidates for the Director position should have a passion for development of open standards to advance the interoperability of the geospatial marketplace and information community. Candidates should have familiarity with the OGC’s approach to developing and adopting standards through both the Interoperability Program and the Standards Program. Candidates must be capable of independent leadership, budgeting, program and technical plan development, scheduling and the discipline needed to lead a process characterized by a diverse, geographically dispersed set of human and infrastructure resources.
A strong technical background in computer software development for geospatial systems is required. A BS degree is required with an MS, PhD (preferred) or similar degree. Experience with relevant government, university and commercial organizations in Europe is required. Of particular relevance is experience with European Directives (e.g. INSPIRE) and programes from European Commission, ESA, EUSC, etc. Candidates must have demonstrated project management experience including cost and schedule responsibility for software development. Candidate will be required to work independently to accomplish program objectives and to independently develop new activities for OGC.
This position will have primary responsibility for the leadership of OGC Interoperability initiatives in Europe, with support to OGC international programs as required. The Director will work routinely with OGC staff, OGC consultants and members to achieve the overall objectives of the Interoperability Program and the broader OGC mission.
