Blue Marble Geographics is pleased to announce the release of Global Energy Mapper version 14. This release features an enhanced Site Pad Placement Tool and read/write support for ArcSDE, Personal and File Geodatabases, Oracle Spatial, PostGIS, MySQL Spatial and more. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and university organizations.
Global Energy Mapper is an enhanced version of Global Mapper with specific features and functionality designed for geospatial users in the energy industry. Released in partnership with Spatial Energy, Global Energy Mapper is fast becoming the go-to tool for energy companies needing a quick and easy to use solution for converting and editing geospatial data for remote sensing, survey and GIS work.
Version 14 features a new group of online data sources (with limited usage for free) from Spatial Energy and e-Button for easy data ordering. This release also includes many new usability enhancements including a reorganization of the Digitizer tool right-click menus by categories based on functionality.
There is also a new customizable Favorites menu for quick access to Digitizer tool functionality, organization of import and export options, along with a new Terrain Analysis menu. The Terrain Analysis menu includes contour grid generation, the ability to combine surfaces, and watershed generation along with two new tools for finding ridge lines and calculating the volume between two surfaces. Many new formats are added with this release, including support for writing CADRG/CIB, ASRP images and reading/writing Garmin JNX format files.
“Global Energy Mapper is a powerful data conversion solution and so much more,” stated Blue Marble’s President Patrick Cunningham. “We are very excited about this release as it has been an opportunity to begin to combine two great software companies, a partnership with Spatial Energy and our expertise in the Geospatial energy software market, while expanding the power of affordable GIS software.”
Along with the support for seven types of spatial databases and the ability to consume WFS (Web Feature Services) and WMTS (Web Map Tile Services) Global Energy Mapper can both publish and consume massive amounts of data. Delivering a tool with a total file format support of around 200 formats, at a starting price of less than four hundred dollars makes it a truly complementary utility for any GIS toolbox.
