The 8th FIG Regional Conference will be held between November 26 and 29 in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is organized by the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and the Association of Surveyors of Uruguay (in Spanish AAU) and is intended for participants from around the world. It will be conducted in English and Spanish with simultaneous translation.
The Regional Conference will take place from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 and the last day of the conference is reserved for a joint technical tour for all participants to Colonia del Sacramento renowned for its historic quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We invite you to participate in this event with the concept “Surveying towards Sustainable Development”.
Applying science and technology to this profession works in the construction of development which promotes improvement of our society and respect for the environment. In the globalized world we are in, to share knowledge, information and data through compatible coordinate systems, is a necessity we are slowly solving and our regions ought to find an official way.
It is a great challenge for Uruguay to host this important event that will bring together professionals from five continents in order to exchange views on various topics and update scientific and technological knowledge. There will be a space for papers to be presented through posters and an area especially dedicated to stands, where companies and institutions may promote their activities, projects, programs and products or services.
