On September 12 it was launched the new Uruguay Spatial Data Infrastructure website (IDEuy) where users may access quality geographic information. The new website allows downloading information associated with geographic layers and to access tools such as maps display, metadata catalogs and geoservices, available from different public organizations and institutions.
IDEuy also aims to become an important tool for information dissemination, technical specifications and geographic information recommendations. The Spatial Data Infrastructure of Uruguay was articulated by the Agency for the Development of Electronic Government and Information Society and Knowledge (in Spanish AGESIC), with the sanction of the Executive Order of June 16, 2006, which considers the need for a National Land Plan and coordination of Spatial Data Infrastructure nationwide.
IDEuy is a joint agency that seeks to promote the use of geographic information, avoiding redundancy and increasing the exchange of spatial data by offering updated and quality data. Since its creation, IDEuy supports coordinating, standardizing and making available the Uruguay’s geographic information with participation and support of various public organizations.
