As part of the Program of Permanent Updating of the Cartographic Base (BC250), the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE in Portuguese) releases today, on its web portal, the Continuous Cartographic Base of Brazil in the 1:250,000 scale (where 1cm = 2.5km). Previously divided in blocks, the base is now available as a dataset for the national territory as a whole in this scale.
The Program of Permanent Updating of the Cartographic Base aims at providing the society with an updated, continuous, integrated, structured, vectorial, digital cartographic base of the Brazilian territory as a whole in the 1:250,000 scale. It allows the compilation of information relative to positioning, geographic naming and classification of the elements represented in the base. The vectorial data allow the users to edit the data to meet their needs.
The Continuous Cartographic Base can be accessed on the IBGE website.
