HTML5 is the latest HyperText Markup Language of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which was first published in 2008. However, it was released and has been used since 2011 when few browsers supported HTML5. Now, most browsers support HTML5 including Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, and IE, allowing users to browse HTML5 pages across different platforms, like PC, Mac, and Smart devices.
SuperGIS 3D Earth Server will upgrade its web viewer to integrate HTML5 and WebGL technologies. And developers can use JavaScript API to build up the 3D environment and share the 3D world! What’s even better is that most of the API methods are the same as the original plug-in API. Therefore, it will be an easy process to move to HTML5 from SuperGIS 3D Earth Plug-in API. The figure below is the framework of SuperGIS 3D Earth web viewer.
The following link is a demo video of SuperGIS 3D Earth Server. The demo shows how the Taiwanese government uses SuperGIS 3D Earth Server to build up a 3D GIS Cloud and allow citizens in Taiwan to observe the underground utilities in a 3D environment.
