FOSS4G 2024, the global conference dedicated to Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial, will be held from December 2 to 8, 2024 in Belém do Pará, Brazil.

In 20 years, this is the first time that the event has come to Latin America in person, consolidating the region’s role in promoting open source geospatial technologies.

Organized by the newly created OSGeo Brasil, with support from GeoLibres (Argentina) and OSGeo (International), the event is the main meeting point for developers, users and enthusiasts of open geospatial technologies in the world.

The choice of Belém, located in the heart of the Amazon, as the host of this important event could not be more significant. In addition to being a vital hub for the collection and analysis of spatial data related to sustainability and environmental preservation, the city will also host COP30, the UN climate change conference, in 2025. This reinforces the importance of FOSS4G 2024 for discussions on the use of geospatial software in crucial issues such as deforestation, climate change monitoring and the empowerment of local communities.

FOSS4G 2024 will feature an intense program, including lectures, workshops, thematic sessions and social events, bringing together geospatial technology experts, government leaders, academics, NGOs, startups and private companies.

Topics covered will include the application of free software in smart cities, disaster response, sustainable agriculture, artificial intelligence, IoT, drones and much more.

For those who want to delve deeper into the latest innovations in geospatial technology and collaborate with a global community dedicated to open source, FOSS4G 2024 will be an unmissable opportunity.

More information about the conference and how to participate is available on the official event website.
