Blue Marble Geographics announces the release of their new TIGER/Line Map Kit Translator with updated Census data.  This application includes TIGER/Line Translator version 8.0 shipped as either a TIGER to MIF (TGR2MIF) or TIGER to Shape (TGR2SHP) software application and the full TIGER data set.

Blue Marble, known for their coordinate conversion technology, is also the creator of industry leading map display, image reprojection, georeferencing, GPS tracking, and Internet mapping technology.

"TIGER/Line files are a very popular map file format amongst our user community, as people realize the data is frequently updated by the U.S. Census Bureau," says Kris Berglund, Blue Marble director of sales.

"This is a complete U.S. map dataset that is conveniently shipped as a set of nine CDs, available for immediate translation to Shapefile or MapInfo MIF.  The TIGER/Line translators are flexible in that users can choose to translate only the layers they need.  This streamlines the process of the overall translation process and saves people time and money."

The 2005 First Edition TIGER/Line files are the first of two versions that contain 2005 geographic boundaries.

The Census Bureau is releasing the 2005 First Edition TIGER/Line files by county or statistically equivalent entity based on the latest available governmental unit boundaries (generally January 1, 2005). The 2005 First Edition TIGER/Line file coverage is as follows: all counties, parishes, boroughs, census areas and equivalent entities for each state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Island Areas.

TIGER was developed at the Census Bureau to support the mapping and related geographic activities required by the decennial census and sample survey programs. Blue Marble ships TIGER/Line data with a choice of two map kits.

TGR2SHP and TGR2MIF are Windows based applications for converting or batch processing of TIGER 97, 98, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, and now 2005 files to ArcView Shapefiles and MapInfo MIF files respectively.
