Blue Marble Geographics announced the addition of support for 3-D ESRI Shapefiles (SHP), as well as enhanced support of 3-D AutoCAD files (DWG/DXF) and 3-D MicroStation Design files (DGN). GeoTranslate users can also look forward to enhanced layer level renditions and other minor enhancements.

Blue Marble’s coordinate conversion technology is the basis of GeoTranslate 5.0, and is used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software companies, universities, oil and gas companies, civil engineering, surveying, technology, enterprise GIS groups, government and military organizations.

GeoTranslate 5.0 is the latest vector translation and feature manipulation tool from Blue Marble Geographics. It is a major rewrite of the GeoConvert control that was included with the GeoObjects tool kit, renamed GeoTranslate. It provides all of the original GeoConvert’s functionality and much more.

Will Klechka, Software Engineer at DAT/EM Systems, is a new GeoTranslate customer who has recently worked with Blue Marble developers to integrate the toolkit with his digital photogrammetry workstation. “DAT/EM Systems has been using the GeoCalc toolkit for many years, and we look forward to embedding GeoTranslate in Summit Evolution,” stated Klechka. “Blue Marble developer support has always been very responsive to our needs. They are quick to fill our requests and provide fixes when needed. They have been great to work with.”

“Working with best-in-class GIS Software providers like DAT/EM Systems is extremely helpful in improving our developer tools,” stated Blue Marble President Patrick Cunningham “3-D file support is an important component of today’s geospatial solutions.”
