Getmapping has acquired Geosense, and its South African subsidiary. The deal was endorsed at an Extraordinary General Meeting of Getmapping’s shareholders on 11th February.

The acquisition will allow Getmapping to continue to grow its UK business and operate on a truly international basis. Geosense has built up a reputation for delivering professional aerial survey, image and map processing services to the UK and African markets.

“This merger will enable Getmapping to put more effort into growing the South African business and expanding its activities across Sub-Saharan Africa. In addition we will start to export the value-added products and services which we have pioneered in the British market, including web sales, data hosting services and web-based GIS,” said Tristram Cary.

Tristram Cary, will remain as Chairman of the Group, focusing on strategic business development. Dave Horner, Martin Tocher and Matt Murphy of Geosense have joined the Getmapping board of Directors, with Dave Horner becoming the new Managing Director,

In addition we have started to build up our business in Sub-Saharan Africa from Mozambique to Nigeria. The expanded company offers a true end-to-end aerial survey solution with international reach,” continued Horner.
