Blue Marble Geographics very own Samuel Knight is attempting to set a brand new World Record for the longest webinar ever given. This seminar will be an extremely detailed look into the need for proper use of punctuation within metadata. Metadata can be very useful inside geospatial software yet, gets lost in translation without the proper use of punctuation. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software companies, universities, oil and gas companies, civil engineering, surveying, technology, enterprise GIS groups, government and military organizations.

Mr. Knight has delivered hundreds of webinars, trainings, and papers on such topics as datum shifts, GEOIDS, and coordinate web registries. However, all of these talks have been at separate times and for durations of no more than an hour. With the request for a webinar on the use of Metadata Blue Marble thought it appropriate to challenge Mr. Knight to speak as long as he could without stopping.

To our knowledge no one has ever attempted to give the longest webinar, and we are excited to be the first ones to attempt such a feat. A typical webinar lasts about an hour to two hours, and it is our hope to have this webinar go on for at least 12 hours. Some may be thinking it is impossible to continue on for that long, but there is full confidence that Mr. Knight will be able to do just that so as long as he, and at least one participant, can stay awake.

We welcome all to join us and not only witness a world record being set, but also enjoy what promises to be a very educational experience. Guests should note that while this may not end up being the longest webinar given, it would certainly feel like it.
