A group of oil and gas pipeline operators, service providers, and industry stakeholders are gathering at the OGC Technical and Planning Committee meetings in Crystal City, VA on March 27, 2014 from 1:00-5:00 PM (EDT) to begin discussions about the development of a data interchange standard tentatively known as PipelineML/PipeML. This open extensible standard is intended to enable the interchange of pipeline data between parties, disparate systems and software applications without loss of accuracy, density or data resolution and without need for conversion between intermediate or proprietary formats. This standard is expected to leverage existing OGC standards such as GML and OGC Web Services.

This standard is intended to facilitate the interchange of pipeline data related to such activities as:

• Pipeline Design
• Pipeline Construction
• ECall Line Locate
• Pipeline Rehabilitation
• Mobile Field Data Collection

This standard may include the following types of pipeline data (albeit incrementally in stages of maturation):
• Pipeline Component Data
• Pipeline Right of Way Data
• Pipeline Measurement Data
• Pipeline Metadata Data

Interested parties are encouraged to contribute in the development of this standard via in-person or dial-in attendance. Pre-registration is required and can be completed here. On-site capacity is limited.
