Blue Marble Geographics is pleased to announce that Blue Marble President Patrick Cunningham has been appointed to the Maine Library of Geographic Information Board also known as the GeoLibrary Board. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and university organizations.

The GeoLibrary is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Governor, the Speaker of the House, and President of the Senate. The Board represents all major stakeholder groups for geospatial data identified in the Legislative Resolve 23 Study. The GeoLibrary was formed and began meeting monthly starting in November of 2002. The mission of the GeoLibrary is to create an electronic gateway to public geographic information, and to expand and promote the value of geographic spatial data through widespread distribution and innovative use for the benefit of Maine’s citizens.

On April 1, 2014 Senator Justin Alfond, President of the Senate, appointed Patrick Cunningham to the Maine Library of Geographic Information Board as a Municipal Government Representative. Patrick is uniquely qualified for this position due to his extensive experience in the GIS community. As President of Blue Marble Geographics he has been an active leader in the GIS industry in Maine and abroad for more than ten years.  In May of 2013 Patrick was elected to the MEGUG Board and Blue Marble has become more active in the Maine GIS User Group over the past few years, promoting and exhibiting our products and services at more and more Maine based conferences.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to join the board,” stated Blue Marble President, Patrick Cunningham.  “Blue Marble has a history of supporting Maine municipalities with GIS solutions and we are committed to that work for the future.  I hope I can assist the constituents with leveraging geospatial data through my work on the board.”
