With data from 326 weather stations, collected for three years, besides information from SUDAM and IBGE, the map comprises studies produced by the Environmental Diagnosis of the Legal Amazon. On a scale of 1:5,000,000 (1cm = 50 km), its digital version is available here.

IBGE presents the map of Climatic Aggressiveness Potential in the Legal Amazon, which integrates studies produced by the Environmental Diagnosis of that region. The analysis comprises data from 326 climatological and rainfall stations of the database of the National Department of Water and Electricity (DNAEE) and from the Company of Mineral Resources Research (CPRM), collected between 1960 and 1990, besides information from the Climatological Atlas of the Brazilian Amazon (SUDAM, 1984) and from IBGE’s collection.

The map combines the analyses of climate variables, adjusted to characteristics of relief and vegetation coverage of the Legal Amazon, which softens climate effects.

The integration and analysis of all variables has led to the classification of aggressiveness into three main levels (high, medium and low), subdivided into groups, according to a combination of elements: rainfall concentration index; number of months with excess of rainfall, number of months with lack of rainfall and total annual average of rainfall.

The map follows a 1:5000000 (1cm = 50 km) scale and its digital version, in pdf and shape format, can be found at the IBGE web site.

Files in shape format will also be soon available, as geoservices, at INDE (National Infrastructure of Spatial Data).
